About the Pearson Dental Group
Dr. Pearson graduated in 1974 from Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. Prior to graduating he had spent three summers performing biological research in the Yukon and had fallen in love with the Territory and it's unique culture.
In 1974 , Dr. Pearson drove north from Vancouver in his 1956 Pontiac, which barely made it to Whitehorse. Dr. Pearson began his career with the only dental clinic in Whitehorse as an associate of Dr. Pugh and Dr. Banks. After working in the Yukon for a year or so Dr. Pearson travelled to Pictou, Nova Scotia where he worked for a short period of time until he and his family decided to return to the Yukon.
Upon Returning to the Yukon Dr. Pearson decided to strike out on his own, and in 1977 the Klondyke Clinic was born.
After working for several years in the Klondyke Clinic, Dr. Pearson found that there was a significant need for additional dentists in Whitehorse to care for the growing population, so in 1990 another clinic was opened.
In 1995, Dr. Pearson created another first in Whitehorse by opening a clinic with a focus on Pediatric Dentistry. He believed that creating a positive environment for children was very important, reducing the children's anxiety level when visiting the clinic for dental care.
Finally in 1999, Dr. Pearson acquired the Watson Lake Dental Clinic. Dr. Pearson has been very involved in providing dental care to the more remote areas in the Yukon. He began in 1982 when he visted the Cassiar and Tungsten mines on road trips to provide mine employees with dental care on the mine sites so they did not have to travel into Whitehorse. Now, the Watson Lake Dental Clinic
allows patients to receive quality dental care without a 5-hour drive to Whitehorse.
The Pearson Group of Clinics is dedicated to the Whitehorse community and continues to provide a great deal of support and envolvement for soccor teams, hockey teams, and other childern's sports activities. Dr. Pearson enjoys sponsoring and participating in many of the community's various children's sports activities.
In recent years Dr. Pearson has been serving around the world in disaster relief efforts, most recently in Thailand. He provides his services through BC-FORT, the British Columbia Forensic Odontology Response Team, and BOLD, the Bureau of Legal Dentistry, the first and only laboratory in North America that is dedicated to full-time forensic dentistry research, casework and graduate teaching.
